Display Your Code

Picture
In the house, display it just inside the main door, on the fridge or by the phone. Display your code on a sign in school rooms, offices, reception, bedrooms, the milking parlour, the factory floor, in remote farm yards, in sheds, piers, on masts, wind turbines or any public space;- wherever people work, learn, live or recreate and may have to call the emergency services.
DON'T FORGET YOU MAY HAVE MEMORISED YOUR CODE BUT YOU MAY BE UNCONSCIOUS WHEN A VISITOR or BABYSITTER NEEDS IT TO CALL 999 or 112 on your behalf

Follow The Guide Below

Display Your Eircode

1. If you wish to remember your Eircode then do so BUT it is better to ensure you SAVE & DISPLAY IT
SOMEWHERE where it can be visually accessed by you AND OTHERS in the event of an emergency. There is
no point struggling to remember your code in the heat of an emergency without being able to find it quickly OR others, who are calling the emergency services for you, being unable to find it either. SAVE & DISPLAY IT SO EVERYONE CAN USE IT.
2. An Eircode is
NO USE WITHOUT AN ADDRESS. When you call 999/112 they will want to confirm the address with you after you have given the Eircode. Make sure you DISPLAY YOUR FULL POSTAL ADDRESS WITH YOUR EIRCODE so others (who may not know the address like visitors & babysitters) have visual access to it also.
3. If you have any problems with your Eircode email hello@eircode.ie

Display Your Loc8 Code

1. You can also check & use a Loc8 Code on the Loc8 Code Website, the point8 app or on any of the Garmin Satnavs listed here

2. Once you have checked a Loc8 Code, if it is for a property, then display it with your address the same as
suggested in Points 1 & 2 for Eircode on this page

3. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE AN EIRCODE OR LOC8 CODE TO CALL 999/112 – call takers are well practiced in validating addresses and getting directions & have other techniques to resolve your location at their disposal. However, having a pre-checked Eircode or a Loc8 Code WILL HELP.

4. 1st responders or others wanting to use an Eircode in a  Garmin satnav where Loc8 Code is supported can use the conversion utility provided here
